iPhone 4 First Impressions

The first thing that you will probably notice is that the new iPhone 4 is definitely thinner than its immediate predecessor, iPhone 3G. The newest release from Apple is 24 percent thinner than the 3Gs. The 4th generation phone is also lighter and has a more industrialized look. The stainless steel and glass casing quite beautifully emphasizes the phone's thinner profile.

Yet amazingly, the thin phone has a bigger battery that will allow you to talk for up to seven hours. It can also run 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music, 10 hours of wireless Internet browsing, and can go for 300 hours of standby time.

The iPhone 4 also runs on the A4 processor which also drives the iPad tablet device. That's a significant improvement on speed!

The iPhone 4 comes with highly improved screen resolution and operating software. On-screen picture clarity enhancement is also very noticeable.

The iPhone 4's screen resolution is courtesy of Apple's Retina Display Technology. It's like the difference between watching tv shows on an HDTV set and an analog TV.

The most technologically advanced component of the new device is real-time video calling. However, FaceTime, as the new application is known, is currently available via wireless Internet access. Apple is hoping that carriers will eventually be able to deal with the increased data loads coming along with FaceTime. And for the time being , FaceTime video calling can only be done between users who own iPhone 4.

The new operating system for the iPhone 4 allows multitasking. Several apps can now be left running together so that music can be played while trying to sort email.
